Grant Dewey

Letter of Reference - Colleague at TCIS

March 25, 2010

To Whom It May Concern:

Kindly accept this letter of reference for Grant Dewey. As a colleague at TCIS I have been privileged to know Grant for nearly 4 years. In his capacity as classroom teacher and Middle School Assistant Principal, Grant has earned high praise from students, parents, fellow teachers and other administrators. Exemplary qualities that define Grant’s professionalism are his thorough attention to details, his genuine consideration of the perspectives of others, and his upbeat brand of leadership.

As a leader of professional educators, Grant is aware of the value of encouragement. He co-ordinates new initiatives with positive energy; he comes alongside colleagues to join them on the journey. Through the use of positive reminders and personal contact, Grant helps us all to reach our goals and to enjoy the process. Students can be overheard discussing their experiences in Mr. Dewey’s classes, citing his positive manner as an enduring impression.

It is in the sensitive issues of coordinating special needs for students that Grant’s consideration of the perspectives of others becomes a key ingredient of his success. When chairing these types of meetings, Grant is able to create a safe, positive environment for educators to table their concerns and suggestions. Grant’s ability to encourage a plurality of voices, yet reach an effective outcome, is a valuable asset to our community.
Lastly, Grant’s personal organization is a strong model for many of his colleagues. With the many, many events and deadlines of our busy school, it is Grant who is always there with a friendly e-mail or message board post. The many aspects of student assemblies, field trips and “special days” are facilitated in a way that makes the transitions seem transparent. The last-minute difficulties are handled with calm and competence. It is in these moments of stress that Grant’s solid, dependable character is most valued by our community members.

As you consider Grant’s fit with your organization, please feel free to contact me with questions. With my pending relocation to Kenya, I recommend using my personal e-mail: lavenderfive@yahoo.ca

Sincerely,

Brian Lavender
